Hymn 172 Sing for God’s glory that colours the dawn of creation (Lobe Den Heren)
Sing for Godโs glory that colours the dawn of creation,
racing across the sky, trailing bright clouds of elation;
sun of delight
succeeds the velvet of night,
warming the earthโs exultation.
Sing for Godโs power that shatters the chains that would bind us,
searing the darkness of fear and despair that could blind us,
touching our shame
with love that will not lay blame,
reaching out gently to find us.
Sing for Godโs justice disturbing each easy illusion,
tearing down tyrants and putting our pride to confusion;
lifeblood of right,
resisting evil and slight,
offering freedomโs transfusion.
Sing for Godโs saints who have travelled faithโs journey before us,
who in our weariness give us their hope to restore us;
in them we see
the new creation to be,
spirit of love made flesh for us.
Prayers of Approach and Lords Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen
Theme for the day
Hymn 256 May the God of hope go with us every day (Argentina)
May the God of hope go with us every day,
filling all our lives with love and joy and peace.
May the God of justice speed us on our way,
bringing light and hope to every land and race.
Praying, let us work for peace;
singing, share our joy with all;
working for a world thatโs new,
faithful when we hear Christโs call.
God will be our Shepherd as we go our way
and will not forsake us when we go astray.
Even though the load of life is hard to bear,
we must not forget that God is always there.
Old Testament Reading: Psalm 66:8-20
Praise our God, all peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard;
he has preserved our lives
and kept our feet from slipping.
For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
You let people ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.
I will come to your temple with burnt offerings
and fulfill my vows to youโ
vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke
when I was in trouble.
I will sacrifice fat animals to you
and an offering of rams;
I will offer bulls and goats.
Come and hear, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.
I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;
but God has surely listened
and has heard my prayer.
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!
Anthem: Alleluia, Christus surrexit, Anerio
Alleluia! Christ has risen from the dead,
an offering for those who sleep. Alleluia!
As with mankind death, so with
mankind the resurrection of the dead.
Alleluia! For as in Adam all die, in
Christ shall all be made alive.
He died for the sake of our sins, and
he arose again for the sake of our
redemption: therefore let us eat the
unleavened bread of purity and of
truth. Alleluia!
Gospel Testament Reading: John 14:15-21
โIf you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you for ever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.
โI will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.โ
Hymn 251 I, the Lord of sea and sky (Here I am Lord)
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord,
if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my peopleโs pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my Word to them. Whom shall I send? I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?
Sermon
Anthem: Most glorious Lord of life, Harris
Most glorious Lord of life, that on this day
Didst make thy triumph over death and sin;
And having harrowed hell didst bring away
Captivity thence captive, us to win:
This joyous day, dear Lord, with joy begin,
And grant that we for whom thou diddest die
Being with thy dear blood clean washed from sin,
May live for ever in felicity.
And that thy love we weighing worthily,
May likewise love thee for the same again;
And for thy sake that all like dear didst buy,
With love may one another entertain.
So let us love, dear love, like as we ought.
Love is the lesson which the Lord us taught.

Hymn 622 We sing a love that sets all people free (Woodlands)
We sing a love that sets all people free,
that blows like wind, that burns like scorching flame,
enfolds like earth, springs up like water clear:
come, living love, live in our hearts today.
We sing a love that seeks anotherโs good, that longs to serve and not to count the cost, a love that, yielding, finds itself made new: come, caring love, live in our hearts today. We sing a love, unflinching, unafraid to be itself, despite anotherโs wrath, a love that stands alone and undismayed: come, strengthening love, live in our hearts today. We sing a love, that, wandering, will not rest until it finds its way, its home, its source, through joy and sadness pressing on refreshed: come, pilgrim love, live in our hearts today. We sing a burning, fiery, Holy Ghost that seeks out shades of ancient bitterness, transfiguring these, as Christ in every heart: come joyful love, live in our hearts today.
Benediction & Choral Amen
