Welcome to St Columba's Church of Scotland, a home away from home

Children up to four years of age are welcomed to the St. Columba's Crèche which is located in the lower hall of the church. There, congregational volunteers, along with occasional paid staff, provide a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for the youngest members and visitors. For the peace of mind of parents/guardians, a mobile phone system allows adults to be called back to the nursery from anywhere within the building. The nursery is staffed from 10:30am each Sunday morning, and the service is free of charge to all members and visitors.

Transitioning children
Transitions for toddlers and babies alike are often tricky. Our nurturing staff and parent volunteers will do all they can to work with parents to make the transition into the crèche as smooth as possible. A mobile phone system is available to all parents with children in the nurseries so that they may be alerted if problems persist in their absence.

Occasionally, of course, parents may need to stay with their child, and the crèche welcomes such involvement.

Child safety
The safety of our children is a top priority. To ensure their security, the crèche works with the Child Protection Group through the Church of Scotland to run background checks on all workers and volunteers. Additionally the crèche has instituted a special security tag system that prevents a child's release to an adult without a proper ID.
