Children
Worship
Children are welcomed as worshippers at St. Columba's Church. Their presence in worship grows out of the belief and tradition that children are members of the Christian community even before they are able to read or understand the service. Children are invited forward during the worship service for a special children's talk with one of the ministers. Afterwards they are invited to return to their parents to sing the children's hymn before departing with their teachers to Sunday School.
The children of St. Columba's Sunday School will enact the story of the nativity
on Sunday 13 December during the 11.00am service.
During the months of July and August a short and informal all-age service is held in the Church. It lasts for 35 minutes and the families participate in the welcome duties.
The Children's Library
The Children's Library is located in the Sunday School room and offers a wide range of children's literature. All are available for check out and children are welcomed to visit the library with their parents after the service on Sundays. Please visit the Children's Library and check out our books.
Fellowship
Throughout the year seasonal children's parties, picnics, and outings are hosted for the families of St. Columba's. These events provide opportunities for the children as well as the parents to get to know one another and enjoy fellowship, creating a community of support and enjoyment for our families.
On Saturday 12 December we will be having a rehearsal for the nativity enactment in the church beginning at 2.00pm.
The rehearsal will be followed by a children's Christmas party in the upper hall from 2.30 - 4.00pm.
Please bring a festive snack to share and join us for festive crafts and plenty of Christmas cheer!
Parents - we invite you to leave your children, if you like, for the rehearsal but please join them
for the party - RSVP by December 1 to camillecook@btinternet.com or on 020 7584 2321.
