Worship
At St Columba's Church, children are welcomed as worshippers. Their presence in worship grows out of our belief and tradition that children are members of the Christian community even before they are able to read or understand the service. We seek to provide a space where all children are welcome and where they, together with their families, can learn about and enjoy worshipping God. During the service, the children are invited forward to the chancel steps for a special talk with one of the ministers, after which they have the opportunity to leave the sancuary with their teachers for Sunday School classes. All children are welcome to join the Sunday School classes, but children are also weclome to remain in the service with their families, if that is preferred. During certain worship services, there are children's bulletins available. These provide child-focused explanations of the order of service, as well as space for colouring and word-games. If there is anything we can do to help your family engage more fully in the act of Sunday worship, please let us know.

During the months of July and August a short and informal all-age service is held in the Church. It lasts for 35 minutes and the families participate in the welcome duties.

The Children's Library
The Children's Library is located in the Sunday School room and offers a wide range of children's literature. All are available for check out and children are welcomed to visit the library with their parents after the service on Sundays. Please visit the Children's Library and check out our books.

Fellowship
Throughout the year, there are seasonal parties, picnics, and outings for children together with their families. These events provide opportunities for the families to get to know one another better, creating a supportive network among our young families. Please contact Katie Munnik at katiemunnik@yahoo.ca or the Church Office.

St Columba's Milk and Honey

Milk and Honey : Church with Children
There's a new gathering at St Columba's - a bouncing, balloon-balancing, sing-songing, craft-constructing congregation of little ones and their families. Milk & Honey is an afternoon of play and worship for all those 5 years old and and under, together with their families. We will meet every couple of months on a Saturday afternoon to spend time as families together being the body of Christ. If you would like to get involved - with your children or grandchildren or as a supportive adult - please contact Katie Munnik at katiemunnik@yahoo.ca.
